We’ve created a 5-day itinerary filled with must-see spots, from temples and markets to day trips and street food experiences

Day 1: Historical Sights & Temples
Start your first day by visiting The Grand Palace, a must-see attraction that’s home to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), one of the most sacred temples in Thailand. The complex is rich with history, and the architecture will take your breath away. Make sure to allocate at least 2–3 hours to explore the palace grounds.
Opening Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Entry Fee: Around 500 THB ($15)
After exploring the Grand Palace, head over to Wat Pho, home of the massive reclining Buddha. From there, take a short ferry across the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). The view of this iconic temple during sunset is something you won't want to miss.
Wat Pho Entry Fee: 200 THB ($6)
Wat Arun Entry Fee: 100 THB ($3)

Day 2: Khao San Road & Bangkok’s Markets
Start your second day with a stroll along Khao San Road, the backpacker hub of Bangkok, known for its vibrant street life. While it's great for shopping and people-watching during the day, it truly comes alive at night with food stalls, bars, and live music.
Afterwards, head to the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in the world. You’ll find everything from clothing and souvenirs to delicious street food.

Day 3: Day Trip to Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a fantastic day trip from Bangkok. The ancient city was once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam and is filled with impressive ruins and temples.
Getting There: You can take a train from Hua Lamphong Station (approx. 1.5 hours, around 15–50 THB ($0.50–$1.50)) or a minivan from Mo Chit Bus Station (around 60–100 THB ($2–$3)).
Entry Fee: 50 THB ($1.50) per temple, or you can get a pass for several temples.
Once you arrive, rent a bike or hire a tuk-tuk for the day to explore the temples. Start with Wat Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head entangled in tree roots.

In the afternoon, continue your tour with Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, both spectacular examples of Ayutthaya’s grand architecture. Wrap up your visit by stopping at Ayutthaya Historical Park, where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll and reflect on the day.
Head back to Bangkok in the evening.
Day 4: Floating Markets & Railway Market
Kick off your fourth day with a visit to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the most famous floating markets in Thailand. Although it can be touristy, it's an experience that gives you a glimpse of traditional Thai market culture. Make sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds.
From the floating market, head to Maeklong Railway Market, a unique market where stalls are set up right on the railway tracks. Watch in awe as vendors quickly pull back their goods when a train passes through.

Spend your last day exploring Bangkok’s Chinatown (Yaowarat Road), one of the busiest and most vibrant areas of the city. Sample local street food, explore the bustling markets, and don’t forget to visit the Golden Buddha at Wat Traimit. Wrap up your time in Bangkok by revisiting your favorite spots or indulging in some last-minute shopping.
